Fervent Hyun Soo (Kwon Sang Woo) who highly reveres the martial arts legend Bruce Lee is transferred to the notorious Jeong Mun high school where raging power struggles among authoritative teachers and school gangs prevail. There he meets another huge fan of Bruce Lee, Woo-sik (Lee Jung-jin) who is the charismatic leader of the students, and they soon become close friends. Both of them are mesmerized by a senior high school girl named Eun-ju a look alike of Olivia Hussey who was one of the leading foreign actresses in those days. Though Hyun-soo is gentle and kind, she is attracted to Woo-sik since he got her out of trouble before.
Later Woo-sik is set up by the school authority and compelled to leave school. Losing the suppressive leader, the rowdy students burst into violence. Hyun-soo who is just experiencing a depressive phase in his life grabs for a pair of Bruce Lee’s famous nunchakus within all this chaos and dashes to the rooftop of the school… Directed by Yoo Ha, the director of “Marriage is a Crazy Thing”, “Once Upon A Time in Highschool” topped national box office with 3,500,000 viewers. Offering his debut in “Bet on My Disco,” Lee Jung-jun is set to shoot to stardom with his latest great performance as a hot-blooded student. Also starring Kwon Sang-woo (”My Tutor Friend”) and Han Ga-in (KBS’s “Yellow Handkerchief”), the film’s story is set in 1978 when South Korea ’s schools fell victim to a violent military regime. Once Upon A Time In High School received the trophy for Best Art and also won in the category for Most Popular Actor (Kwon Sang-woo) at the 25th Blue Dragon Awards presentation.
